What the chart shows
The last two swing highs and the last two swing lows were both higher: an uptrend structure. The swing points in time order: L $3,927.2 (Tue 20:00 UTC), H $4,062.2 (Wed 12:00 UTC), HL $4,038.0 (Wed 15:00 UTC), HH $4,081.2 (Wed 18:00 UTC).
What is trend structure?
Trend structure reads the trend from the swing points: an uptrend makes higher highs and higher lows, a downtrend makes lower highs and lower lows. It is the plainest way to say which side is in control without any indicator.
The rule that found it
Find the swing highs and lows (beyond the 3 bars on each side). Compare the last two swing highs and the last two swing lows: both higher = uptrend structure, both lower = downtrend structure. Mixed swings mean no clear structure, and the concept is skipped.
How traders use it
- Trade with the structure: in higher highs and higher lows many traders look only for buying setups at pullbacks toward the last higher low.
- A common plan: enter on a pullback that holds above the last higher low (or below the last lower high in a downtrend), place the stop beyond that swing and aim for a new high (or low).
- A close beyond the last higher low (or lower high) is a break of structure and is a reason to stop looking for trades in the old direction.
Education only: this explains a pattern that already happened on a past chart. It is not a signal or a level to trade today, and not personal advice.
