What is Goldle?

Goldle is a free daily game: one call a day on whether gold's next close will be higher or lower. It takes ten seconds, it is scored from the real published COMEX gold futures close, and it keeps your streak, accuracy and history in your own browser. No sign-up, no crowd numbers, no prizes: just you against the market's next close.

How a round is scored

  1. Each UTC day has one round. Your call is about the next session that closes after today, compared with the session before it.
  2. When that close appears in our daily data (refreshed every hour from COMEX gold futures, GC=F), the round is scored: right direction = a win. An exactly unchanged close counts as a push.
  3. The optional bonus asks for the size of the move: under 0.5%, 0.5% to 1%, or over 1%. It is scored separately.
  4. Your win streak counts consecutive correct calls; your play streak counts consecutive rounds played.

Why a daily call is harder than it looks

Over long samples gold has closed higher on slightly more than half of all trading days, and the moves cluster around data releases: our NFP-day study and CPI-day study show wider ranges on release days, and the economic calendar lists the next ones. Before you play, it can help to check why gold is moving today and how wide a normal day is on the gold volatility tracker. None of that makes the next close predictable, and that is the point: if you would not risk money on a ten-second guess, keep sizing real trades with the position size calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How does Goldle work?

Once a day you call whether gold’s next COMEX close will be higher or lower than the close before it. When that close is published in our daily data (refreshed every hour), your call is scored automatically the next time you open the page. Rounds reset at 00:00 UTC.

Which close is my call scored against?

The next trading session that ends after the current UTC day: on a Tuesday you call Wednesday’s close against Tuesday’s. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you call Monday’s close against Friday’s, so the weekend is one round and never breaks a streak. If the market is shut for a holiday, the next session that trades counts.

Is Goldle a trading signal?

No. It is a game about uncertainty. Day-to-day direction in gold is close to a coin toss: in our own studies gold closed higher on 54% of all trading days. A good run of Goldle calls is mostly luck, which is exactly the lesson.

Do you show what other players picked?

No. There are no accounts and nothing is sent to us, so there are no crowd statistics, and we do not invent any. The only result shown is the real market’s: the published close and its change.

Where are my streak and history stored?

In this browser only (localStorage). Clearing site data, using a private window or switching devices starts you from zero.
