This free gold candlestick patterns cheat sheet is a 5-page PDF you can download straight away, with no sign-up. It covers 18 patterns, from the hammer and shooting star to engulfing candles, the morning and evening star, inside bars and tweezers. Every pattern is drawn as clean candles after the trend it normally follows, and has four short lines: what it means, where it tends to matter on XAUUSD, what confirms it, and the price that makes it invalid. The aim is to judge candles at the levels you already marked, not to hunt for shapes.

What's inside

  • Page 1: how to read any candle. Candle anatomy, the three rules to apply before any pattern (location, context, the close) and three basic shapes: doji, spinning top and marubozu.
  • Page 2: single-candle patterns. Hammer, hanging man, inverted hammer, shooting star, dragonfly doji and gravestone doji.
  • Page 3: two-candle patterns. Bullish and bearish engulfing, bullish and bearish harami, piercing line and dark cloud cover.
  • Page 4: three-candle patterns and bar setups. Morning star, evening star, three white soldiers, three black crows, inside bar, and tweezer bottoms and tops.
  • Page 5: putting it to work. A five-step routine, the three candle setups from our lesson, common mistakes and the position-sizing formula.

How to use it

  1. Mark your H4 and D1 levels before the session, and note the US data times in your own time zone.
  2. When price reaches a level, wait for the candle to close on your trigger timeframe, then find the pattern on the sheet.
  3. Read its Confirm line and wait for that confirmation before entering. No confirmation, no trade.
  4. Place the stop beyond the Invalid price plus the spread, and size the position from that stop.
  5. Log the trade in your journal with the pattern's name, so after a few months you can see which patterns work for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the gold candlestick cheat sheet really free?

Yes. Click the download button and the PDF opens or saves straight away. There is no email, sign-up or payment.

Which candlestick patterns are in the PDF?

Eighteen: hammer, hanging man, inverted hammer, shooting star, dragonfly and gravestone doji, bullish and bearish engulfing, bullish and bearish harami, piercing line, dark cloud cover, morning star, evening star, three white soldiers, three black crows, inside bar, and tweezer bottoms and tops. Page 1 also explains the doji, spinning top and marubozu.

Do candlestick patterns work on gold?

Candles describe who won a period of trading, so they can help, but a pattern on its own is weak. On XAUUSD they matter most at levels you marked in advance, in the London and New York sessions, and after a confirming close. Test any pattern on your own gold data before relying on it.

What timeframe should I use the patterns on?

Most traders read them on M15 to D1. On M1 and M5 the same shapes appear constantly and spreads around news can draw false wicks. The higher the timeframe, the fewer but more meaningful the patterns.

Can I print the cheat sheet?

Yes. Each page is A4 and works on US Letter with fit-to-page printing. The design is dark, so if you want to save ink, print in grayscale; the patterns stay readable.

Does the cheat sheet include win rates for each pattern?

No, on purpose. Published pattern statistics come from other markets, periods and definitions, and they don’t transfer to gold on your timeframe. The sheet gives the rules; your journal gives the numbers.
