US clocks go back one hour at 2:00 am on Sunday 1 November 2026, so from then every gold time set in New York lands one hour later in the UK, Europe, Africa, the Gulf, India and Asia. US data at 8:30 am ET moves from 12:30 to 13:30 GMT and from 18:00 to 19:00 IST (16:30 to 17:30 in Dubai). Fed decisions move to 19:00 GMT and 00:30 IST, and the daily rollover moves to 22:00 GMT and 03:30 IST.
The London open does not move: the UK already switched on 25 October, so it stays at 08:00 GMT (13:30 IST). New York times stay the same for anyone in New York or Toronto. The tables below give every key time before and after the change in 16 zones, computed with the official time zone database.
What changes and why
Gold’s trading day runs on New York time. The daily close is 5:00 pm ET, the weekly open is 6:00 pm ET on Sunday, and almost all market-moving US data comes out at 8:30 am or 10:00 am ET. When New York moves from UTC−4 to UTC−5, all of those moments shift one hour later in UTC.
| Region | Clock change | Effect from Monday 2 November |
|---|---|---|
| USA and Canada | Back 1 hour on Sun 1 Nov | Local times unchanged |
| UK, Ireland, Portugal | Already changed on Sun 25 Oct | US events 1 hour later; London open unchanged |
| Rest of Europe (CET) | Already changed on Sun 25 Oct | Same as the UK |
| India, Gulf, Africa, most of Asia | No clock changes | US events 1 hour later; London open unchanged |
| Australia (Sydney, Melbourne) | On summer time since 4 Oct | US events 1 hour later |
The week from 25 October to 1 November was the odd one out. Europe was on winter time and the US was still on summer time, so London and New York were only four hours apart. From Sunday they are back to five hours apart until spring. In spring 2027 the US moves first (14 March) and the UK follows on 28 March, so the same mismatch returns for two weeks.

The weekly close is Friday at 5:00 pm ET, the same moment as the daily close in the table. Last Friday (30 October) that was 21:00 GMT, or 02:30 IST on Saturday. Next Friday (6 November) it is 22:00 GMT and 03:30 IST on Saturday (02:00 Saturday in Dubai, 06:00 in Singapore). The first reopen on the new times is this Sunday, 1 November, at 23:00 GMT, or 04:30 IST on Monday.
The daily break between the close and the reopen moves with it, to 22:00–23:00 GMT, 03:30–04:30 IST and 02:00–03:00 in Dubai. Spreads tend to be widest around this hour; see why spreads widen at rollover.
Broker platforms often show “server time” rather than your local time. Many brokers shift their server clock this weekend so the daily candle still starts at the New York close. On Monday, check your platform’s clock before you trust any time-based order, alarm or EA setting.
What it means for session strategies
Most gold session strategies are built around three windows: the Asian range, the London open and the London–New York overlap. The table uses the session hours from our market hours tool: London 08:00–17:00 UK time, New York 8:00 am–5:00 pm ET.
| Window | 26–30 Oct (GMT) | From 2 Nov (GMT) | From 2 Nov (IST) | From 2 Nov (Dubai) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| London session | 08:00–17:00 | 08:00–17:00 | 13:30–22:30 | 12:00–21:00 |
| New York session | 12:00–21:00 | 13:00–22:00 | 18:30–03:30 (+1) | 17:00–02:00 (+1) |
| London–NY overlap | 12:00–17:00 (5 h) | 13:00–17:00 (4 h) | 18:30–22:30 | 17:00–21:00 |
| US 8:30 am data | 12:30 | 13:30 | 19:00 | 17:30 |
| Daily close | 21:00 | 22:00 | 03:30 (+1) | 02:00 (+1) |
Three practical consequences:
- The overlap is one hour shorter and starts later. It is back to its winter shape of 13:00–17:00 GMT. If you trade the overlap from India, it now starts at 18:30 IST instead of 17:30.
- The gap between the London open and US data is longer. London opens at 08:00 GMT and US data now lands at 13:30, five and a half hours later (last week it was four and a half). London-session setups have an extra hour to play out before the US data hits. See the London session gold strategy.
- New York-session rules need a one-hour shift. A rule like “trade the first two hours after 12:00 GMT” now has to start at 13:00 GMT. If your strategy is written in New York time, nothing changes. If it is written in GMT, IST or server time, update it. See the New York session gold strategy and London vs New York sessions.
The Asian session is barely affected, because Tokyo and Singapore don’t change their clocks. But the daily break now ends at 23:00 GMT instead of 22:00, so an Asian range measured from the reopen starts one hour later in GMT.
When gold moves most, on the new clock
Our when does gold move most tool measures gold’s typical range for every hour of the day. The busiest hours are the New York data hours. From 2 November they shift one hour later in GMT and IST, along with everything else set in New York. The chart on this page shows the hourly pattern from our data. If you work in GMT, read the New York hours one hour later than in summer.
Checklist for Monday 2 November
- Reset alarms for US data to 13:30 GMT / 19:00 IST / 17:30 Dubai, and for ISM to 15:00 GMT / 20:30 IST.
- Check your platform’s server clock and the start of the daily candle.
- Update time-based EAs, session indicators and pending-order expiries that are set in GMT or server time.
- Recalculate session windows if your strategy uses GMT or IST: the overlap is now 13:00–17:00 GMT (18:30–22:30 IST).
- Note the new rollover time: 22:00 GMT, 03:30 IST.
- Mark the week’s events on the new clock: ISM on Monday, midterm results from 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, NFP at 13:30 GMT on Friday. Our weekend gap risk guide covers how to handle them.

Frequently asked questions
When do US clocks change in November 2026?
At 2:00 am local time on Sunday 1 November 2026, when clocks in most of the US and Canada go back one hour to 1:00 am. New York moves from UTC−4 (EDT) to UTC−5 (EST) and stays there until Sunday 14 March 2027.
What time is US data in India after the clock change?
8:30 am New York releases such as NFP, CPI and PCE move from 18:00 IST to 19:00 IST. 10:00 am releases such as ISM move from 19:30 to 20:30 IST, and Fed decisions at 2:00 pm ET move from 23:30 to 00:30 IST the next day.
Does the London open change on 1 November?
No. The UK already went back to GMT on 25 October, so the London open stays at 08:00 UK time (08:00 GMT, 13:30 IST, 12:00 Dubai). Only times set in New York move. For one week from 25 October London and New York were four hours apart; from 1 November they are five hours apart again.
What time does the gold market open on Sunday after the change?
Gold reopens at 6:00 pm New York time on Sunday 1 November, which is 23:00 GMT, 03:00 Monday in Dubai, 04:30 Monday in India and 07:00 Monday in Singapore, one hour later than the previous Sunday.
When is the London–New York overlap now?
Using the London session 08:00–17:00 UK time and New York 8:00 am–5:00 pm ET, the overlap runs from 13:00 to 17:00 GMT from 2 November (18:30 to 22:30 IST). In the week of 26–30 October it ran from 12:00 to 17:00 GMT, so it is one hour shorter and starts one hour later.
What time is the daily gold rollover after the clock change?
The daily close and rollover stay at 5:00 pm New York time, which becomes 22:00 GMT, 02:00 in Dubai and 03:30 in India. Spreads usually widen and swaps are charged around this time, so that also moves one hour later.
